Recent activities of the Parents Cooperative Religious School include preparing and packing food for the New Bern Stop Hunger Now (http://www.stophungernow.org/) event. In addition to the Temple representation that was present, 8 PCRS children and parents did their part to support the Stop Hunger Now project in meeting its goal. The organization has packed almost 160,000 meals this week alone. The children of the PCRS also did their part to spread Hanukkah Cheer by decorating, packing and delivering over 20 Hanukkah gift bags to the older members of the Temple. In addition, everyone had an exciting time at the Temple Hanukkah Party; many thanks to the Schillers for hosting the event.
As we look forward to the New Year, plans are underway to participate in Project Linus (http://www.projectlinus.org/index.html), which has created and delivered over 3.5 million home-made blankets to “children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug.”
Anyone who would like to support our efforts by contributing materials or by lending your talents to create your own blankets is welcomed to contact Adrienne Fiedler for additional information.
